Hattie's Cancer Journey

My daughter Hattie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called botryoid rhabdomyosarcoma in July 2013 when she was 16 months old. After about a year and a half of chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries, she was declared cancer free in December 2014. I'm posting a photo and short reflection every day in 2015 to celebrate the end of treatment and reflect on the journey.

49. 9/14/2013 - Kate's new job.

After many years teaching and Hattie's arrival, Kate wanted to move out of the classroom to pursue teaching in a different environment. She accepted a job at the Boston Museum of Science over the summer and was scheduled to start in September. After much deliberation, she decided to take the job on a part-time basis. Hattie, GMa and I visited her at work and had a blast playing and learning.

Hattie was handling the NG tube really well. We had to administer all liquids through the tube and were really afraid she would be crying for milk and water. Fortunately, she didn't complain too much. The NG tube actually made taking medicine much easier!
