Hattie's Cancer Journey
My daughter Hattie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called botryoid rhabdomyosarcoma in July 2013 when she was 16 months old. After about a year and a half of chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries, she was declared cancer free in December 2014. I'm posting a photo and short reflection every day in 2015 to celebrate the end of treatment and reflect on the journey.

16. 8/5/2013 - All smiles before treatment started.
We spent the last couple of days before treatment started just enjoying time together. We had a photo shoot with our good friend Bethany Carnes and she captured this great shot. You can see more of her great portraiture at Bethany Carnes Photography.
I took Monday off work and we spent some time outside and tried to distract away the thought of treatment. We knew treatment would be tough and that there would be many twists and turns along the way so we wanted to enjoy this time as much as possible. The day felt like taking a huge breath of fresh air before diving deep into murky water.
