Hattie's Cancer Journey
My daughter Hattie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called botryoid rhabdomyosarcoma in July 2013 when she was 16 months old. After about a year and a half of chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries, she was declared cancer free in December 2014. I'm posting a photo and short reflection every day in 2015 to celebrate the end of treatment and reflect on the journey.

6. 7/23 - 7/25/2013 - More waiting.
CT and PET scans were scheduled for Friday, 7/26 so we had the week to wait, worry and pray. We left the meeting on 7/22 fearing cancer but still had some hope that it would end up being something simple like a polyp. It was a hard week and we went through a full spectrum of emotions. Is our baby going to die? Is this all a joke? It's nothing, right? It's cancer, isn't it? We can beat this! We're doomed! No, she's going to beat this! God, let it be nothing. We broke down a number of times. There were other times where we just couldn't feel anything. There was lots of Netflixing this week for sure. Throughout all of the week, Hattie remained her normal, curious self.
