Hattie's Cancer Journey

My daughter Hattie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called botryoid rhabdomyosarcoma in July 2013 when she was 16 months old. After about a year and a half of chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries, she was declared cancer free in December 2014. I'm posting a photo and short reflection every day in 2015 to celebrate the end of treatment and reflect on the journey.

35. 8/27/2013 - Not feeling so well.

Hattie was a bit sick as the night progressed. She fell asleep a bit later than we were expecting and we were all exhausted. The 3 am alarm to switch IV bags was definitely a shock. We were terrified of messing something up but it was really easy to pause the pump, connect the new bag, and hit go. We had a bunch of diaper changes overnight as well. We didn't sleep well as we were worried Hattie could get tangled up in all the tubing. She did really well and we made it through the night without incident.
